Sami Hossain Chisty was born in Dhaka. He was a student of Humanities in his secondary and higher secondary education. After completing his HSC from Notre Dame College, he started his tertiary education at Dhaka University. He completed his B.A (Hons.) from the Department of English and managed to secure a prestigious CGPA. He continued his academic success in his M.A where his concentration was English Literature.
Sami started his teaching career as an English lecturer at Notre Dame College. Meanwhile, he wrote a book named English Language & Literature. He started working as a researcher at the Center for Studies in African Literature and Culture, Dhaka University. At present, he is working for Notre Dame University Bangladesh as an adjunct lecturer.
Apart from being a teacher, he is engaged in some other significant activities. He is working as a researcher and has published several articles for a collaborated project of Press Information Department of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and UNICEF. As an Executive Member, he has led several projects and convened conferences for Bangladesh Human Rights Development Commission under the supervision of UN. He has the experience of working as a journalist for some national dailies including the daily Jugantor, the daily Jai Jai Din , the daily Naya Diganta and the daily Observer. He is the acting president of the daily Jugantor “Shojon Shomabesh”.
His areas of interest are Contemporary Literature, African Literature and Critical Theory.
He is a creative writer of both Bengali and English literature. Some of his stories and poems got published in some national dailies.
