On 23 December 2014, Notre Dame University Bangladesh has inaugurated its new building and celebrated the Victory day & Christmas party on the same day.
The ceremony program started on its premises around 12 o’clock. All the Teachers and the Students were gathered in front of the University. His Excellency Most Rev. Archbishop Patrick D’Rozario, CSC offered his benediction prayer and cut the ribbon of inauguration. He then revealed the inscription in front of the inside gate. The Archbishop and Rev. Fr. James Cruze, CSC sprinkled holy water with the Blessing of God.
The Authority of NDUB had also arranged the celebration of Victory day & a Christmas Party on the same day around 12:30 pm. Rev. Fr. James Cruze, CSC (Chairman, Board of Trustees), Rev. Fr. Benjamin Costa, CSC (VC, Acting), Rev. Fr. Frank Quinlivan, CSC (Founder Chairman, BoT), Rev. Fr. J. S. Piexotto, CSC (Treasurer), Rev. Fr. Adam S. Pereira, CSC (Registrar), Members of the Trustee Board, Syndicate Members, Teachers, Students and all the invited guests joined in the program. Most Rev. Archbishop Patrick D’Rozario, CSC, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
All the guests took seats on the stage and students greeted them with the flower bouquets with song. The National Flag was hoisted with the National Anthem. After that Rev. Fr. Benjamin Costa, CSC (VC, Acting) gave his speech, “Today is a joyful day for the family of NDUB and I am wishing all of you on Victory day and Merry Christmas.”
Professor Dr. Azizur Rahman offered a speech on the Victory day. He said, “Our Victory day of our New Bangladesh is the great achievement of the Liberation War which occurred from March 26 to December 16, 1971.” After his speech, some students performed a dance with a national song. Rev. Fr. Frank Quinlivan, CSC offered a nice speech regarding the implications of Christmas. He said, “Around 2000 years ago, Christ the redeemer, has born for us in a winter night, neither in any palace nor in any luxurious building, He was born in a stable. So it is a day of joy and festival.” The students then played a nice Christmas song.
Rev. Fr. Adam S. Pereira, CSC the Registrar said, “It is a historical moment for us as we have our Most Rev. Archbishop Patrick D’Rozario, CSC, in our midst. We are welcoming all our guests and the well-wishers.” Honorable Chief Guest, Most Rev. Archbishop Patrick D’Rozario, CSC, said, “Truly, today is a joyful day for us all. I would like to thank and appreciate all the Holy Cross Priests because of their initiatives to pioneer the development of education”. Rev. Fr. James Cruze, CSC, said, “People can be from different religions but the country is for us all. So that we are having a nice occasion to celebrate Christmas all together, and it is a pleasant moment.”
At last, all the guests and the students shared a large Christmas Cake in this significant moment.
